From Chris's Heart

December 2010
From Chris' Heart
by Chris Harris

It’s Christmas time at the Harris’ and most of you know by now how it goes around here. We are so big on tradition and I must say the older we get, and the more I see, I realize what a treasure the memories are.

Thanksgiving was wonderful again, and we were blessed to have Susan White and Teri Bell with us along with our children and theirs. Of course Max was so excited to see his friend “Choir Boy” as he emerged from the Christmas closet. However, Blake Lulabelle was not too sure. I am afraid she may be taking after her big brother, questioning who he really is, and what he has been doing in that closet all year.

That weekend was very full with decorating, both the house, the chapel, and the yard, along with gymnastics meets, football games and of course there was, and still is, candy everywhere, and I do mean everywhere! But the most wonderful event of all was what took place on that Sunday afternoon when our grandson, Max, was baptized. We were all together at First Church to share this precious event.

By the time you get this we will have had our annual Christmas dinner at the Chapel where we slow down long enough to visit and enjoy a meal together and not just any meal, but ham cooked by our own Harvey Craig. Harvey has had a pretty tough time this year with health issues, but we praise the Lord for His continuous healing power in Harvey’s life.

I was sharing with a friend the other day at the Chapel, how I am so thankful to have a personal relationship with the Lord and how much more aware of that relationship I seem to be at this time of the year. It just seems I need Him more. It seems that my emotions are stronger, both good and bad. I miss loved ones more, I am much more impatient, I am touched by the little things, and find myself talking to Him constantly! The truth is we all need a Savior and I am so glad Jesus was born. How humbling it is to know that He was born, and died for me! He came and died for you too.

Looking forward to all the good times the Christmas season holds, Nick and I love every one of you and pray you and yours will be blessed with the love and the relationship only you and Jesus can share
