From Chris's Heart

December 2007
From Chris's Heart
by Chris Harris

Well, here we are again---my favorite time of year. It is so hard to believe another year has gone by. I get excited as the Holidays draw close. I have started making plans for all the kids to be here on Thanksgiving to take the traditional, “Family Picture”, and I am so thankful for a family that allows me to do this. I promise them that if they don’t complain and if they all smile at the same time, and don’t move it will all be over very quickly, and MeMe will be so happy. It becomes a little more difficult each year as the family grows.

Speaking of growing families, Nick and I are going to be blessed with another grandbaby come next May. Our youngest son, Jamie and his precious wife, Stephanie, are having another one.

My Crystal’s Candy Store is now open for business, and Teri and Momma and I are busy every extra minute we have in the kitchen. My son, Jamie has the store up and running with a new website and we have now made it to the “big time” with our site being connected to Pay Pal. I guess that is really something. Please check it out at www.crystalscandies.com. Jamie did a great job.

My plans are all pretty much laid out for the next three or four weeks, you know how you do. Maybe you can relate to this. I take my calendar and beginning with Thanksgiving I write down all the dates for all the fun Christmas get-togethers, and then I mark the calendar for all the grandchildren’s school plays. I schedule the days beginning with my decorating the inside of the house and then the outside. I spend one day at the Chapel making it beautiful for the season, then there is the deadline of ordering and getting all the Christmas cards mailed, and of course the Roar to do. And now on top of all of this I have added a holiday business. Well, you know.

The other day I was driving down to Norman to help Nick with Loaves and Fishes and I found my self feeling anxious and my mind was going is a hundred directions with all the things that needed to get done. I took a deep breath and I thought of Mrs. Woody. She used to remind us of what the scripture said about taking on more than we should in one day. God gives us the grace to handle one day at a time. If we take on more than that we do become anxious and we miss the blessings of that day. I love this time of year and I don’t want to miss anything He has for me to do during this wonderful Christmas season.

I pray you and your family will be blessed beyond measure this Christmas season. Be the “blessing” you are called to be. Merry Christmas!
